Eric grew up in South Florida sailing and coaching Optis and 420s.  While still in his teens and early twenties, Eric crewed in several SORCs and races on Long Island Sound, as well as racing and delivering the 68’ ketch Inverness, owned by his late uncle Robert McCullough (NYS).  Eric spent 25 years in the USAF and Air National Guard flying F-15 and F-16s in command positions, with additional qualifications in survival training.  During his USAF and commercial airline flying years, Eric often skippered for his father, the late Rolf Thyrre (FLA), on his 64’Huckins and 75’ Burger on numerous cruises and deliveries. After retirement, Eric reconnected with his roots as a member of the Coral Reef and Biscayne Bay Yacht Clubs, where he has shown his commitment to volunteerism at both clubs as flag officer.  Since acquiring Heritage 6 years ago, Eric and Elise have enjoyed cruising on her in the Bahamas, as well as the Chesapeake and New England waters.
